How do I register for an online course?
Current EMU students:
Current EMU students are individuals admitted to Eastern Michigan University. If you have not applied for admission to the University, please refer to our prospective student instructions (below). Current EMU can register for all EMU–Online classes using their my.emich account. For more registration information.
Prospective students are those individuals that do not have a current and complete admission application on file for Eastern Michigan University and have no current student status at EMU. Prospective students may complete the online web registration form. Also, you may complete a paper registration request.
By requesting to be registered for courses at EMU, you accept responsibility for reading and conforming to all policies, procedures, required dates, fees and other requirements published in the University catalogs, the course schedule book and the Extended Programs and Educational Outreach Course Bulletin. Submitting a registration request does not guarantee enrollment in any class.
Please note: International students should contact the EPEO office (734.487.1081 or email@example.com) prior to submitting a registration request. International students may need to supply Visa documentation.

Can I register for a course that is currently full?
Contact the instructor directly and ask for an override. For graduate level courses offered through the College of Business, students contact the COB Graduate office (734.487.4444) prior to contacting any instructors.
You can use your my.emich account to search for the instructors assigned to online sections, or view one of the many online class listings.
I am completing an incomplete in an online course, do I need to register again? How do I gain access to the course?
If you are completing an incomplete from a prior term, you should not re-register for the course. In all instances, you must contact your instructor. Any correspondence relating to access to current or past online sections should be forwarded to the EPEO office (firstname.lastname@example.org). Appropriate access will be arranged and you and the instructor will be notified.
I received a registration override, when will it appear on my student account?
You can expect to receive confirmation from the EPEO office within one business day. Our staff processes faculty and student requests in the order in which they are received. If you do not receive confirmation within one business day, please check to make sure the original override request was sent to the EPEO office (either email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org). EPEO cannot process overrides that have not come directly from instructors. Emails from instructors forwarded from your email account will not be accepted.
How do I log into EMU–Online?
To access your course(s), direct your Web browser to emuonline.edu. Your login ID is your EMU Student ID (EID or E#). Your EID is a nine-character code comprised of the letter "E" followed by eight numerical digits. For example, an EMU Student ID/EID would look similar to this: "E00000000".
You can locate your EID on the bottom of your student ID card, or by going to my.emich.edu and clicking the "How do I get my student ID and PIN?" link.
Your www.emuonline.edu password can be retrieved here. To retrieve your password, enter your first and last name into the space provided and your User ID (which is your EID) or your EMU email address.
Once you login to EMU–Online, you have the option of changing the password you have been issued. To change your password, click the "Home PSH" tab located on the upper left and then click on the "User Profile" link also located on the left-hand side of the page. Feel free to enter any other data that you wish to share with your instructor, such as home and work telephone numbers. Once you change your password, you will need to click the "Update" button to save the changes you entered. Please be aware that the system can take up to 30 minutes to reset your password after you submit the changes.
Please remember that you will not be able to directly access your course until the scheduled start date.
How do I retrieve a lost EMU–Online password?
Your www.emuonline.edu password can be retrieved here.
To retrieve your password, enter your first and last name into the space provided and your User ID (which is your EID) or your EMU email address. Your password will be emailed to your my.emich account.
My name is incorrect in EMU-Online, can that be fixed?
If your name appearing in EMU–Online is incorrect, or your name has changed since the creation of your EMU–Online account, please contact the EPEO office at 734.487.1081 or email@example.com.
Why can’t I see all of my online courses when I log into EMU-Online?
You should verify your course registrations. Online courses have a campus code that starts with WW. If what you believe is an online class does not have a campus code of WW, it is not an online course.
Fully online courses may not appear prior to the start of the term. Typically, prior to the first day of your class, the EMU–Online staff is completing instructor requests. Some of these requests require system changes which cause some classes to appear missing to students. On the first day of classes, or at any point during the term, if you do not have access to your fully online course(s), you should contact the EPEO office at 734.487.1081 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
What is a time-out and what can I do to prevent it?
EMU-Online is set to time-out after 45 minutes of inactivity. To stay online, you need to save your work, which sends your changes to the server, or change pages, which asks the server to download the new page. Both restart the “idle” clock to extend your time. When typing online, you are actually just working on a cached, or saved, page you've already downloaded to your computer, so your connection is idle. Until you save the changes you’ve made, you are not making connection with that online server, so you run a greater risk of being disconnected. Save, at least, every ten minutes, or so to ensure you are not timed-out of your online course session.
My instructor uses EMU–Online to send emails to students, why am I not receiving those emails?
If you are not receiving emails sent via EMU–Online, please contact the EPEO office at 734.487.1081 or email@example.com.
I do not want to use my emich email address for my online class, can that be changed?
All students enrolled in EMU–Online courses must use their emich email accounts as their email address of record within the EMU–Online system.
