Business Ethics for the HR Professional

This six-week, online course explores the area of ethics and related problems and concerns in today’s dynamic business environment from the human resource professional’s perspective. The course makes use of case studies, podcasts, videos, class discussions and activities to help the student better understand the ethical implications of many business decisions.

The format is online learning. Course topics include: stakeholder identification and analysis, corporate social responsibility, ethical Issues in business, ethical reasoning models and development of ethical codes of conduct, Sarbanes Oxely and whistle blowing protections, business and media, and employees and the corporation

Instructor: Toni Knechtges, SPHR
Toni is a full time lecturer in the management department at Eastern Michigan University. She facilitated the SHRM Learning System as well as the Essentials of HR Management courses, and taught business ethics courses for the past five years at EMU. Toni comes from a background of twenty plus years in the human resource field in the automotive and transportation sectors. She is the director for the Michigan Council of SHRM, a past president and current advisory board member of the Human Resources Association of Greater Detroit, and a member of the Greater Ann Arbor Society of Human Resource Management.

Attendance policy
Participants are expected to attend all classes, with no absences permitted to receive the HRCI recertification hours.

Cancellation policy
All cancellations must be in writing. Those who cancel two weeks before the program starts will receive a full refund. Those who cancel between one and two weeks before the program starts will receive a 50 percent refund. Those who cancel less than one week before the start of the program will receive a 25 percent refund. No refund is available to those who cancel during the program.

Schedule changes and cancellations
Although we make every effort to maintain the published schedule for classes, insufficient enrollment and other unforeseen occurrences may require a schedule change or cancellation. We will attempt tot notify you as soon as possible.
